I recently had a discussion with a friend on why Google shares our web search history with the government and that sucks. You do want to have the feeling that you are totally free on the Internet instead of having the feeling that you’re being watched and all of your information could someday could be used against you. On ZdnetUK you get to see Google chief executive Eric Schmidt who stated that Google would share user information with the government ” if the requests were legal”.
In other words, if you’re child molestor and have your Google account with web history option turned on and get convicted for child molestion, the government can make Google share your Google searches to see your interests related to child molestion. Google uses web history information to improve Google search suggestions, a nice and handy search tool. And Google web search history is available only for registered Google users.
So, how do you stop and delete entire Google web history?
- The first step is to start searching something, anything on Google. Go ahead, make a query on Google.
- Now, log in with your Google account. Like I said, Google web search history is only available for registered users. If you don’t usually search with Google while you’re logged in, then you’ve got nothing to worry about.
- Now, in the right upper corner of your page you’ll notice Google’s web history link. Click on it.

-
You’re now on the Google web history page. Here are all the Google web searches you’ve been made since since your web history option was turned on (probably from the moment you’ve created theĀ Google account) on specific dates.
Notice that in your left screen appear options like Pause and Remove items. Pausing means turning off the Google web history search, but if you preffer specific results to be removed, you can choose to remove items. - Congratulations. All of your web search history has been deleted and you will not have to worry again about your interests while using Google search.

As a final remark of this article I should mention taht you might also want to know that Google supports the user’s privacy. They’ve decided to build into their Chrome browser and option called INCOGNITO, a mode which allows users to surf over the Internet completely safe, with no trace whatsoever, surfing the web in a stealth mode.
Hope you found this article useful and I’d like to hear opinions too on this topic.
